CNN travel recommends 10 must-try street foods in Viet Nam
On top of the list is ‘pho’ (Vietnamese noodle soup).
CNN travel describes 'pho' as a simple staple, consisting of a salty broth, fresh rice noodles, a sprinkling of herbs and chicken or beef. It features predominately in the local diet. It's cheap, tasty and widely available at all hours.
The second famous dish, but top choice when it comes to lunchtime in the capital is 'bun cha', according to CNN travel.
Small patties of seasoned pork and slices of marinated pork belly are grilled up over a charcoal fire. Once they’re charred and crispy, the morsels are served with a bowl of fish sauce-heavy broth, a basket of herbs and a helping of rice noodles.
Other Vietnamese street foods which CNN travel recommends include 'xoi' (savory sticky rice), 'banh xeo' (crispy crepe bulging with pork, shrimp and bean sprouts, plus the garnish of fresh herbs), 'goi cuon' (spring rolls), 'bun bo Nam Bo' (Nam Bo beef noodles), 'cao lau' (Cao Lau noodles), 'banh mi' (Vietnamese baguette), 'bot chien', and 'café trung' (Vietnamese egg coffee).
