The Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports in partnership with the Viet Nam Television Centre in the Central and Central Highlands regions (VTV8) organised the traditional boat race on the Han River on Sunday. This was one of the outstanding sporting events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang.

A traditional boat race was held on the Han River on Sunday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang. The tournament was jointly organised by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports in partnership with the Viet Nam Television Centre in the Central and Central Highlands regions (VTV8).

The tournament attracted the participation of nearly 400 male and female athletes from 22 racing boat teams in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

There were 17 members in each boat competing in the men’s and women’s categories. The male teams were required to complete 5 laps, equivalent to 7.5km, whilst the ladies’ teams had to complete just 3 laps, equivalent to 4.5km.

Taking place in the meaningful month of March, the tournament received the enthusiasm of racing teams, locals and tourists.

From early morning, a large number of fans gathered on both banks of the Han River and on the city's iconic bridges to watch, cheer, and support the racing teams, creating a lively and exciting atmosphere. The participating teams competed with great determination.

With the participation of many teams inside and outside the city, the tournament brought exciting and dramatic competitions. It contributed to introducing the traditional cultural beauty on the river of the people of Quang Nam and Da Nang to domestic and international tourists.
