Big changes in Ba Na Hills in past decade
10 years ago, the Da Nang- based Ba Na Hills tourist area was a cold and desolate place but it has currently been emerging as one of Viet Nam’s best places to visit.
The Cau Vang (Golden Bridge) becomes a new symbol of the city’s tourism |
Mr Hoang Van Thieu, the Deputy Director of the Ba Na Cable Car Service JSC, said he was one of the first 10 people conducting surveys about the construction of cable car systems on the Ba Na Mountain.
He remarked starting from 3 September 2007, his group began a 1,000-day-long journey to the Ba Na Mountain with 2 computers, several sets of tables and chairs, 2 motorbikes and 30 million VND in cash.
Mr Trinh Van Ha, who was responsible for building the 1st cable car system, recalled his memories of being lost in the forest, and facing heavy flood damaging road, iron bridges and trees, and hanging himself in cold wind and mist to make a cable car route.
Mr Tran Tinh, a mechanical worker was directly involved in constructing the 1st cable car system, said he and his teammates had to pour all the blood, sweat and tears into that project.
He added since the construction of the 1st cable car line was completed, he has remained attached to Sun Group for 12 years because of his special love for his job, and for his company as a shole.
Since the first cable car system at the Ba Na Hills officially became operational on 25 March 2009, it has won 2 Guinness world records for the longest non-stop single track cable car, with a total length of 5,042.62m and the highest non-stop single cable car, with a height difference of 1,291.81m.
With a total of 94 cabins which can carry around 1,500 visitors per hour, the around 300 billion VND cable car line has shortened the travel time to the top of the Ba Na Mountain to only 20 minutes instead of several hours spent for walking or driving cars on rugged mountain road as before.
Over the past decade, Sun Group has continued pouring big money into this inviting tourist site with the intention of creating even more attractive tourism products.
Apart from taking world-record-holding cable cars to see mountains and forests with diverse vegetation from above, visitors to the Ba Na Hills can discover the French Village, the Le Jardin Flower Garden, a mountain-climbing train, the Debay Wine Cellar, the Linh Ung Pagoda, the first-ever wax museum in Viet Nam, and Fantasy Park which is the largest indoor entertainment centre in Southeast Asia.
In addition, visitors are also treated to fascinating Carnival Festival every day which features numerous fascinating performances by European artistes.
Notably, since it opened to the public in early June 2018, the Cau Vang (Golden Bridge) on the top of the Ba Na Hills has significantly helped to make Da Nang become one of the ‘must-visit’ places in the world in 2018 and 2019.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said the Ba Na Hills has seen a growing increase in the number of tourist arrivals year on year. This positive result was mainly attributed to this site’s high-quality tourism services, its inviting entertainment areas and improved infrastructure.
Over the past decade, this tourist site has been honoured with the ‘Viet Nam’s Leading Tourist Attraction’ award for 4 times by the Viet Nam Tourism Association and the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
Mr Duong The Bang, Director of the Sun Group in the Central Region, affirmed that greater efforts are being made to make the Ba Na Hill become more inviting to visitors from both home and abroad, which will contribute to advertising the image of the city’s tourism on the world tourism map.
