Located at 25 Nguyen Ba Lan in Ngu Hanh Son District, the market has been emerged as a paradise of delicious food at surprisingly cheap prices.
As soon as visiting the market, you will be overwhelmed by many mouth-watering dishes, including ‘bun thit nuong’ (noodles with grilled pork), ‘banh canh’ (rice spaghetti), ‘bun mam’ (rice vermicelli with anchovy fish sauce), and ‘banh xeo’ (steamed rice flour pancakes).

Besides, there are delicious and delightful nosh such as ‘oc hut’ (sucking snails), ‘kem bo’ (Vietnamese avocado mousse ice cream), 'banh can' (little round pancake made of rice flour, eggs and shrimp and served with dipping sauce and herbs), 'goi kho bo' (salad with dried beef), and ‘goi mit tron’ (Vietnamese young jackfruit salad).
Amongst, ‘oc hut’ and ‘kem bo’ are considered must-try dishes as you visit the Bac My An Market. Ms Luan’s ‘oc hut’ stand and ‘kem bo’ stands by Mrs Van and Mrs Cuc are the highly-recommended places for you.

‘Kem bo’ is a rich and creamy dessert which is super easy to put together. At the bottom of a ‘kem bo’ glass is a layer of mashed avocado. Then food seller tops it up with a scoop of ice cream, coconut sauce, and toasted coconut flakes. There are so many layers of flavours and textures. The smoothness and richness of avocado goes well with a scoop of cold ice cream. The coconut sauce adds silkiness as well as a light coconut fragrance. Finally, the toasted coconut flakes add crunchiness and some nuttiness, making the dessert more interesting and balancing the richness. It can be said that avocado ice cream is a unique specialty of the Bac My An Market.
Meanwhile, snails here are extremely delicious and very cheap. There are two types of snails - Oc Hut (small snails) and Oc Buou (big snails). They are mostly caught from rivers, streams or on the rice fields. They are soaked in water overnight to eliminate the mud, and they are washed carefully before cooking. If you want to taste both types, you can order a mixed plate. They are served with a spicy ginger fish sauce.
