Coffee is an indispensable part of Vietnamese culture as the country is well-known as one of the biggest producers of coffee beans in the world.

Black coffee, iced coffee with condensed milk, coconut coffee (frozen coconut milk mixed with rich black coffee topped with shaved coconut ice), and egg coffee are among the Vietnamese’ favourites.

Amongst, egg coffee is truly a specialty of Ha Noi and this type of beverages has made the capital’s reputation on the global culinary stage.

Now, coffee lovers can try this Ha Noi specialty at the Namto House located at 130 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street in Da Nang.

In Ha Noi, the drink starts with a layer of condensed milk at the bottom over which strong black coffee is poured. A whisked egg yolk is placed on top. The three elements create a fantastic mixture of sweet, bitter and fatty flavours.

Meanwhile, at the Namto House, the three ingredients: condensed milk, strong black coffee and whisked egg yolk are served separately. Guests will receive a small piece of square paper featuring step-by-step instructions to drink this type of coffee.

Accordingly, you firstly have to pour your desired amount of sweetened condensed milk into the cup of strong black coffee and stir. Then, you spoon whisked egg yolk and dip it into the cup of mixed coffee, and enjoy it.

It tastes almost like a coffee flavoured ice cream, more like a dessert than coffee. The egg part is surprisingly light-tasting and not at all sickly, though certainly sweet.

In addition to egg coffee, this inviting place offers a varied drinks menu to satisfy its guests, including cocktails, coffee and other irresistibly delicious drinks at reasonable prices.

Apart from tasty drinks, visitors to the café can enjoy some good snack dishes, including dried chicken meat, salted egg croissant, cheese-filled sweet bread, grilled rice paper with fermented shrimp paste and others.

Locals and tourists coming to this place will be impressed by its contemporary classical architecture with simple wooden tables and chairs, hanging flower pots and lovely ornamental plants, which gives them a comfortable and close-to-nature feeling.

The coffee shop uses environmentally-friendly items, such as paper straws and glasses, and bamboo spoons. It opens from 7am - 10pm daily.
