The Tien Sa Lighthouse on Da Nang’s Son Tra Peninsula was built by the French in 1902 with the purpose of guiding ships back and forth at sea about 14 nautical miles from the shore.

About 20km from the city center, the Tien Sa Lighthouse is almost isolated from the rhythm of urban life.
To reach the lighthouse, you can drive in the direction of Vo Nguyen Giap Street leading to the Linh Ung Pagoda on the peninsula and turn left at the intersection leading up to the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. Here, you continue to go about 2km and turn left towards the lighthouse. Right at the entrance to the lighthouse is a board recording the time of construction and how to transport materials from the mainland to the island.
Despite being 120 years old, the Tien Sa Lighthouse still retains the French architecture with two main colours of white and yellow.
At night, the lights on the lighthouse are turned one, guiding boats through the waters of Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Thua Thien Hue. The lighthouse is 15.6m high and 2.7m wide, and the equipment in the lighthouse is mostly operated by diesel engines, illuminating 23 nautical miles (equivalent to 44km).
In addition to guiding ships operating at sea to travel safely, the lighthouse, located on the slopes of a romantic and fresh peninsula, has become a popular tourist destination in the city thanks to its ancient architecture.
After visiting the lighthouse and enjoying the beautiful scenery here, visitors can learn about the operation of the lighthouse station, such as facilities, operating procedures, energy, and lighting equipment.
Visiting the venue at dawn or dusk is the best time to hunt good photos. The highlight of the Tien Sa lighthouse is the nostalgic beauty that stands out among the mountainside apart from a historical work associated with maritime activities at sea.
To easily observe the sea and part of the Son Tra Peninsula from above, visitors can climb the lighthouse by spiral stairs.
From this address, you can also visit some other can’t miss tourist spots on the peninsula such as the thousand-year-old banyan tree, Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak, Nghe Cape, Da Den tourist site and Tien Sa Beach.
