Singapore took the lead in the eight Expat Explorer country league table with expatriates praising good opportunities for career development, appealing salaries and excellent quality of lives, revealed a survey conducted by the Hong Kong-Shanghai Bank Corporation (HSBC).

Over a quarter (28 percent) of the foreign expats in Singapore earn more than 200,000 USD per year, compared to 13 percent expats globally who gain the same amount.

Fifty-nine percent of the respondents said that Singapore is an ideal place to develop their career and 79 percent felt upbeat about Singaporean economy.

In addition, 67 percent of the expats believed that Singapore offers them better lives than their home countries and 65 percent of overseas parents said that their children’s health and wellbeing have been improved since they moved to this country.

Meanwhile, expats living in the Middle East receive unrivalled benefit packages while Sweden is rated as the best destination for expat family life.

According to the survey, half of the expats in Vietnam said that their job expectation is better satisfied compared to their homelands. Most of them felt interested in local culture and dishes.

The Expat Explorer survey was completed by 21,950 expats from 198 countries through an online questionnaire in March, April and May 2015. Each league table scores countries on a scale of zero to one, with the highest score ranking first and the lowest ranking last. All scores have been rounded to two decimal points.

Notably, the survey pointed out that better living conditions and new challenges are the main reasons for the expatriates to look for jobs in foreign countries. Large financial hubs in the world are the main destinations for foreign people.
