Statistics of the CTA showed that Thailand, Singapore, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are among the 10 most popular destinations for Chinese outbound travellers during the holiday from October 1 to 8 this year.
Thanks to over 45 percent of Chinese travellers to Southeast Asian countries, the number of flights between China and ASEAN countries witnessed a surge of more than 2,700 flights a week.
Besides, among nine Southeast Asian nation members, nine offered visa-free or visa-on-arrival policies for Chinese tourists.
In 2016, more than 30 million trips were made between China and ASEAN countries, compared with 10 million in 2011. The two are each other's largest overseas tourist destinations and largest sources of tourists.
According to Ctrip, a leading provider of travel services in China, the number of Chinese outbound tourists is expected to jump to six million in this year’s holiday.
