Nearly 244,000 Indian tourists visited Indonesia’s Bali resort island during January-November 2017, up 48.25% from the previous year.

Particularly, some 80,000 Indian people chose Bali to spend their holidays from November 2017 to January 2018, 1.5 times higher than the same period one year ago.

Head of the Bali’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Adi Nugroho said that most of the Indians flew directly from their country to Ngurah Rai International Airport and only 1,500 people used cruise ship.

He revealed that India ranks third among source markets of Bali tourism, following China and Australia.

Bali has become more attractive to Indian travellers due to its beautiful landscape, sound bilateral relations between India and Indonesia and similarities in culture. Furthermore, travel from India to Bali island has been made easier thanks to increasing direct flights connecting the two destinations.

Between January and November 2017, Bali welcomed 5.38 million foreign arrivals, a year-on-year surge of 20%. Chinese were the most prolific foreign visitors in the island, accounting for 25.5 %of the total, followed by Australians (19%), Indians (4.53%), the UK (4.25%), the US (3.3%), French (3.17%), German (3.15%) and Korean (3.12%).
