Indonesia: Strong quake-caused tsunami warning removed
April 13, 2019, 11:17 [GMT+7]
A tsunami warning issued after a strong 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked off Indonesia’s Sulawesi province on 12 April was lifted.
According to Indonesia's Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), sharp shakings can be felt from Gorontalo to Manado, Kolaka and Konawe.
The quake struck at 18:40 (local time) with an epicentre 10 kilometres under the seabed, the agency said.
Right after the quake, the BMKG issued an early tsunami warning.
No casualties or damages have been reported yet.
Last September, a 7.5-magnitude quake and a subsequent tsunami in Palu on Sulawesi island killed more than 2,200 with a thousand more declared missing.
