The Straits Times cited the minister as saying that this year alone, Singapore has seen three infection waves which were all quite big.
What is more important is to monitor developments overseas and watch if a new variant of concern emerges when winter hits the Northern Hemisphere, said Ong.
Singapore reported 1,052 more new cases of COVID-19 on December 3, lifting its total caseload to 2,171,550.
