Tet get-together for city's ex-pat community

On Monday, the Da Nang People’s Committee held its annual Get-Together for ex-pats who are living and working in the city, in celebration of the upcoming Tet Festival.

In attendance at the event were municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, and other city leaders, plus representatives from foreign diplomatic agencies and FDI businesses from across the city.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Tho briefed the participants on the city’s socio-economic achievements over the past year. 

Last year, the city attracted a total FDI capital of around 112 million US$, which is 6.5 times higher than the previous year.  Thanks to this, the total number of FDI projects in the city has to date reached 546 totalling 3.01 billion US$.

In particular, the city leader highly applauded ex-pat community in Da Nang for joining their great efforts with local government and its people to ensure the comprehensive success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017 which took place last November.

He remarked that the city is now focusing on effectively implementing its key campaign ‘2018: The Year of Investment Promotion’ which is offering a good opportunity to boost win-win cooperation between the city authorities and their foreign partners. 

The leader of the municipal government also expressed his belief that the city’s ex-pat community would continue their devotion in making Da Nang a more prosperous, peaceful, civilised and modern city in the future.

Also at the event, 34 foreign organisations and 30 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the city’s People’s Committee in recognition of their great efforts for local growth, as well as their active involvement in strengthening international friendship, and humanitarian aid work in the city over the past year.
