On Monday, Germany’s Heart to Heart International donated a hand-held ultrasound device to the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Intervention at the Da Nang General Hospital.

The German organisation also pledged to fund the maintenance work on all the cardiovascular treatment machines in the Department for the next 5 years, at a total cost of 3 billion VND.

Previously, 2 digital subtraction angiography machines, worth over 50 billion VND in total, had been donated to the hospital.

Over recent years, doctors from the Department have successfully treated 3,000 patients with congenital heart disease and other cardiovascular disease, 2,250 of whom were children.  Free surgery and treatment will continue to be offered to local poor children.
