Furama receives "Green Brand Award 2014"
The Furama Resort Danang is one of the winners of the “Green Brand Award 2014”. The results were officially announced at an awards ceremony in Ha Noi on 8 November. Organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Economics and Forecast Magazine, the awards honour humane and environmentally-friendly businesses nationwide, and encourages them to develop their “green” products.
The Furama Resort’s General Manager, Mr Matthias Wiesmann, said that his resort installed a new water-cooled chiller system earlier this year. This helped the resort to save 45,000 kWh of electricity during the system’s 6-month trial operation, he added. In addition, a solar water heater system called Solar-BK has also been installed, with of the power to heat 2,000 litres of water per day. In addition, heed has been paid to using “smart” lighting and door systems, and effectively operating the resort’s wastewater treatment system, and using organic fertiliser which is made from fallen leaves from the resort’s gardens.

An energy and environmental resource management team has also been established at the resort. The 10-member team is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the use of energy at the resort and the impact of the resort’s performance on the surrounding environment, and for developing the resort’s energy and environmental protection policies.
