Da Nang Logistics Centre to be built soon
On 27 March 2014, the Da Nang People’s Committee approved a project to promote the development of the city’s logistics services by 2015 with a vision towards 2020. The aim was to develop the local logistics sector as one of the city’s spearhead economic sectors and boost the local socio-economic development in the future.
Under the project, the Da Nang Logistics Centre will be built in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Nhon Commune. The centre will have fairly easy access to the large economic centres, industrial parks and export processing zones in Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien-Hue and the Central Highlands by road, railway, airway, or waterway. In particular, it will be the endpoint and Pacific gateway for the East-West Economic Corridor.

Apart from its above-mentioned favourable geographical advantages, the centre will enjoy great benefits from the city’s recently approved plan to construct a new terminal at Da Nang International Airport.
The throughput of cargo transported through the Da Nang Port will be used to evaluate the centre’s progress in the future. In fact, a Da Nang Logistics Company was set up 5 years ago which has, so far this year, established relations with about 40 carriers and ship manufacturers from both home and abroad.
However, the city’s logistics sector is now facing a shortage of qualified human resources. In an effort to promote the development of the logistics sector, the local support sectors, including banking, customs, and information technology, will need to change their methods of operating more towards internationalisation to leverage the development of the local logistics sector.
