According to the Da Nang Taxation Department, between January and June the city’s total tax collection reached over 5.3 trillion VND, fulfilling 58% and 56.5% of the year’s targets as set by the central government and the city respectively.

Most notably, there was a considerable increase compared with the same period last year in collections from those sectors which usually account for a high proportion of the city’s total tax revenues.

Collections from state-owned enterprises reached 54.1% of the year’s target set by the city, whilst those from non-state-owned businesses involved in local industrial and commercial activities and services represented 50.9%.

Collections from non-agricultural land use fees fulfilled 94% of the target, up 15% against the same period last year.  Since the start of the year, the leaders of local residential groups have been responsible for collecting taxes from their member families and then transferring them to the Department.

The Deputy Head of the Department, Mr Nguyen Dinh An, remarked that these positive results were mainly attributed to production stability reported at local businesses, the city’s effective measures to improve the collection of overdue local tax arrears, and to fully tapping new collection sources.
