Projects in preparation for APEC 2017 progressing well
Construction of the Vinmec Da Nang Hospital in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward is progressing well. Developed by Viet Nam’s leading real estate conglomerate Vingroup, this is one of the most important projects in preparation for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, which will take place in the city in October 2017. The hospital is expected to be put into use on 15 March 2017.

The project covers an area of 15,122m2 and it borders with 30 April street to the north, Than Canh Phuc to the south, Nguyen Huu Tho to the west, and Luong Nhu Hoc to the east.
Vinmec Da Nang will be the 6th of its kind, all developed by Vingroup, to be constructed in Viet Nam, after those in Ha Noi, Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Quang Ninh. The project’s contractor is Coteccons, which is striving to become the leading construction corporation in Viet Nam.
The 178-bed hospital will consist of 16 specialised wards, 10 functional rooms, and centres for cardiovascular, laboratory and diagnostic imaging and other related aspects. The hospital will boast modern facilities and advanced medical treatment technologies, all meeting the Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation Standards for Hospitals which is regarded as the international standard in global healthcare.
Another important project now underway is the 3-storey Ariyana Convention and Exhibition Centre project to the south of the Furama Villas. Developed by the Thien Thai Joint Stock Company, the 350 billion VND project covers an area of 4,520m2, giving a total floor area of 16,644m2. The centre’s main meeting hall will be able to seat 1,150.
The main construction work is nearing completion, and the project’s construction units are now making every effort to ensure that the centre will be put into operation by April 2017.
In a similar vein, the municipal People’s Committee recently gave the go-ahead for the spending of over 84 billion VND from the city’s budget on upgrading some existing facilities in preparation for APEC 2017. The Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre will be temporarily converted into APEC 2017’s main press centre, and the Tien Son Sports Arena, where the event’s Gala Dinner will be held, is being refurbished.
Also, 10 billion VND from the city budget will be used to set up a sculpture garden on Do Ba in Ngu Hanh Son District’s My An Ward.
