Boosting bilateral cooperation with Lam Dong in sourcing organic agricultural products
During his meeting last Friday with some representatives from the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee (PC), Da Nang PC Vice Chairman cum Head of the Department of Publicity and Training Dang Viet Dung highlighted the fruitful results in sourcing organic agricultural products from Lam Dong Province after first 4 months of bilateral cooperation between the two localities.

Vice Chairman Dung noted that, in the coming time, focus should be on enhancing the checks over the origin and quality of agricultural products sourcing from Lam Dong Province, and organising the province’s agricultural product fairs in his city.
Mr Pham S, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial PC, asked the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop brand name of his local agricultural products, and increase its checks over food safety. He remarked that his province would transfer its technologies to Da Nang to help the city develop its hi-tech agricultural production in order to save transport costs between the 2 localities.
By late 2016, Lam Dong Province earmarked a total of over 63,813ha, mainly located in Da Lat City, the districts of Don Duong, Lac Duong and Duc Trong for growing organic vegetable. The province is now home to 29 VietGAP-standard vegetable growing areas covering a total of 1,433ha. Currently, twenty of them are supplying their vegetable to Da Nang with an annual capacity of 22,232 tonnes in total.
