The plane was put into use yesterday on the Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City route.
Vietnam Airlines Deputy General Director Le Hong Ha said that the 11 'dream liners' will help the carrier provide 4-star services for passengers.
Dinesh Keskar, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific and India Sales for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said that with the 11th Boeing 787-9, VNA is among the airlines with the biggest 787 fleets in the Asia-Pacific region, which affirms its commitment to becoming a leading carrier in the region.
Vietnam Airlines received its 1st Dreamliner in July 2015. Besides the domestic route between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Boeing 787-9s are being used for international flights from Ha Noi and HCM City to London (the UK), Frankfurt (Germany), Narita (Japan), Beijing (China), and Sydney and Melbourne (Australia).
From 13 May to 30 June, it will use the aircraft on its flights between Ha Noi and Singapore to meet high travel demand during the summer peak.
As of now, the fleet of Boeing 787s has flown 11,400 flights with more than 60,700 flying hours, transporting 2.13 million passengers.
The carrier will receive eight 787-10 Dreamliners in the following years.
