WB offers more loans to the city
According to a spokesperson for the World Bank (WB), an additional credit of 72.52 million USD from the WB’s International Development Association (IDA) will be given to Da Nang to develop its infrastructure.
The focus will be on building separate drainage systems to reduce environmental pollution at the My An-My Khe beach tourism area, as well as installing integrated ticketing and intelligent transportation systems for the city’s public transport services, including a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
A part of WB’s loans will be used to upgrade a road route linking Hoa Nhon with Hoa Son communes in Hoa Vang District in order to facilitate smooth movement on the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway and a highway bypass on the city’s ring road.
Mr Ousmane Dione, Country Director of WB in Viet Nam, said that the growth of infrastructure in a locality, including transport and environmental sanitation services, is required to match the growth of a local economy. He, therefore, highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure systems when developing urban centres like Da Nang, and to maintain the growth momentum of Viet Nam as a whole.
