The city leaders gave the go-ahead to the organisation of a design contest for developing Da Nang Bay into a seaport urban area in the near future.

The project will cover about 2,311 ha of land and 4,888 ha of water surface, and it will encompass the districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Lien Chieu and Son Tra.

The municipal departments of Construction, and Planning and Investment will be in charge of organising the contest, and representatives from the National Institute of Architects will be invited to join a judging board for selecting entries at this contest.

As for projects in Son Tra District, an apartment project on the corner of the Pham Van Dong and Vo Nguyen Giap streets in Phuoc My Ward will be totally converted into a condotel project.  It will comprise a total of 3,252 apartments, whilst the number of floors of its hotel will be decreased from 50 to 45.

Approval has also been given to the expansion of a road to the east of the Tho Quang Market.  Accordingly, the width of this route will be expanded by 5m to 10.5m.

With regards to construction works in Hai Chau District, the complex of commercial centres, offices, hotels, and high-class apartments at 84 Hung Vuong Street will cover an area of 11,170m2.

The site clearance work at 138 Hai Phong will be accelerated for the construction of the new cardiovascular centre of the Da Nang General Hospital.

The 236 billion VND centre will feature a 37.55m-tall, 9-storey-plus-1-basement building providing 200 patient beds.  It is one of the city’s key projects in preparation for the APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2017 (AELW) in November.

Once operational, the centre will provide medical examinations and treatment for patients with congenital heart disease from Da Nang and elsewhere in the central region and highlands.  The site clearance and compensation for families affected by the project will be conducted in line with the national laws.

The green light has been given to some adjustments to the construction of a residential area near the Tran Thi Ly Bridge.  This project will cover a total area of 4,410m2, consisting of 12 adjacent land lots.

Following recent approval by the city authorities, a large drainage pipe with a diameter of 8m will be placed between the Furama Resort and the Ariyana Danang Tourism Complex, stretching from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to the sea.

As part of the Hoa Lien Commune No 4 resettlement area, the Hoa Lien Senior High School will be constructed in Quan Nam 2 Village, covering an area of 2ha.
