Toll collection on Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway likely to be suspended
The collection of toll charges for using the recently-opened Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is very likely to be suspended, whilst the project’s developer, Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC), must make thorough repairs to the existing damaged parts of the whole route in leaps and bounds.

The instructions mentioned above were announced by Transport Minister Nguyen Van The at an online meeting on morning Thursday to review traffic safety in the past 9 months.
Also at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh asked the Quang Nam Province authorities and the Ministry of Transport to report on road surface defects along this over 34,500 billion VND expressway project.
In his explanations, Director of Quang Nam Province Department of Transport Le Van Sinh said that, in recent times, heavy rain has poured down this locality. Still worse, many high-capacity trucks have wreaked havoc on road surface of the recently-inaugurated expressway.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Directorate for Roads of Viet Nam (DRVN) confirmed that potholes and other road surface defects along some sections of the expressway have been resulted from suspected mistakes committed during the construction work.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Binh asked the Ministry of Transport to determine the reasons for this matter, and contractors’ responsibilities as well.
Previously, the entire Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway was officially opened to traffic on 2 September to mark the 73rd National Day.
