A total of 4,300 billion VND was poured into the implementation of a project on building Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city during the 2008-2018 period.

In detail, 1,304 billion VND was from the city budget, more than 1,400 billion VND from district-level budgets, and the remainder from other sources.

During that period, 31 projects on environmental protection and climate change response were deployed in the city. The total costs for these projects were over 174 billion VND and 56 million Yen with the funds from foreign organisations and businesses.

Besides, 6 billion VND was spent from the city budget on establishing the Environmental Protection Fund.

Accordingly, the Fund is responsible for calling for domestic investment to implement environmental protection projects effectively in the city.

Thanks to its tremendous efforts, Da Nang has received a number of international and domestic awards.

Notable amongst them are the ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City in 2011, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Law-Carbon Emission City in 2012, one of APEC 20 Green-Clean-Beautiful Cities in 2013, and the 'Excellence in City Transformation' award in 2015.

Last year, the city was officially awarded the title ‘National Capital of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)’s One Planet City Challenge 2018 (OPCC) programme’.
