Currently, there are 15 scheduled and 12 charter direct international air routes connecting Da Nang with other destinations worldwide, together offering 368 flights per week in total. This figure shows an increase of 4 and 40 in the number of air routes and flights respectively against last year.

In addition, the city now has 9 domestic air routes, bringing a large number of tourists from large cities nationwide to the seaside city.

A spokesperson for the municipal Department of Tourism revealed the operation of many non-stop international air routes from the Da Nang International Airport to destinations around the world has helped to bring a large number of foreign visitors to the city, especially those from South Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, the USA, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Ms Ban Dahae from South Korea’s Seoul City excitedly said it took me only 3 hours to fly from International Incheon Airport to Da Nang. She added although the city boasts numerous inviting attractions, I was very impressed with beautiful beaches and delicious seafood.

Notably, over the first 3 months of this year, there was a sharp increase in the number of flights between Bangkok and Da Nang with a total of 56 flights per week.

In particular, Viet Nam-based budget carrier Vietjet Air, Bangkok Airways and Thai budget carrier AirAsia are respectively operating 21, 14 and 21 flights per week.

Starting from 12 April, AirAsia will launch direct flights between Da Nang and Thailand’s Chiang Mai, with seven round-trips per week.

Also in this month, Malaysia’s Malindo Airways will offer Kuala Lumpur-Da Nang non-stop direct flights with the frequency of 7 flights every week.

Starting from 27 April, the Da Nang-Nagoya air route will be officially launched.

Ms Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, said in the second quarter of this year, her agency would continue promoting the opening of more international air routes connecting Da Nang with such foreign countries as Russia, India and European countries.

Besides, preparations are being made for seminars on introducing the beautiful images of the city’s tourism to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan’s Kaohsiung, as well as for some tourism promotion activities in India and European nations.

“Top priority is being given to ensuring the success of the forthcoming programmes namely Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, Da Nang Beach Tourism Season and Da Nang-Summer Rendezvous” she added.

Also in the coming time, more effective measures will be taken to stop the harassment of tourists, and deal with illegal street vendors at some of the city’s popular tourist attractions, as well as implement well search and rescue work at sea. The intention is to make Da Nang a safe, friendly and hospitable city in the eyes of visitors.
