Previously, Ms Van, a resident in Da Nang, had managed to find rental rooms, which bothered her much. Luckily, thanks to the burgeoning highly-efficient technologies, what she now needs to do is turn on her cell-phone, search the renting introduction app, and then arrange an appointment to visit the rental house. Apps like Sumica, in deed, help her quickly find the most suitable accommodation amidst her busy schedule.

Sumica is a startup project of the Hai Chau District-based Wakumo Vietnam Co., Ltd. Doan Huu An, the project's chief programmer said, early this year, his company decided to move from its old headquarters on Tran Hung Dao Street into a new location. At that time, finding a new location is very difficult as most of the company’s employees are from outside the city, whilst the boss is a Japanese national.

“I thought that a tech company should create a tech solution to housing rental issues. That’s the way Sumica was born”, said An.

In mid-September, Sumica was launched on Android and iOS operating systems after 4 months of preparation, becoming the first accommodation rental app in the central Vietnamese city.

After the first week of launch, Sumica has built a database of about 1,300 houses, mini apartments and offices for rent across the city.

It is known that 50% of rental houses are now advertised by hanging plates. With crowd-sourcing, the Sumica team transfers this offline information into online. Just a few clicks and swiping on this app, you will find the best results, just like you spend 1 hour running around outside!

By using specific filters of every housing item, Sumica creates a standard by which easily, you can find the best house and compare with the others just with a few simple steps.

In particular, Sumica provides you with special functions namely “add note” so that you can consider carefully before coming to decisions.

Renting accommodations via Sumica, tenants are not in charge of any fee when searching and renting house on Sumica. Also, they will have the contact of the landlords in order to make a call directly and independently, with no third party being involved.

Unlike other rental apps available on Facebook, Sumica targets the tenants in the medium segment with a monthly rental fee hovering at around 3 million VND or more.

It is also known that the biggest challenge Sumica needs to address in the coming time is how to change tenants’ habits from searching rental information via websites or Facebook groups to using mobile tech apps with simpler and more convenient features.

Luu Duc Dong, a Sumica programmer, said, his team will focus on developing artificial intelligence (AI) in the near future.

It is expected that, by the end of this month, the new Sumica Host app will have made its debut, helping the owners directly manage their rental facilities by updating their information on this new app regularly.

With their creative apps, the Sumica team is always willing to build a transparent rental ecosystem to ensure easier connection amongst lessees and lessors in a time-consuming and effective manner, hereby gradely meeting the growing housing rental demand in Da Nang and other major cities nationwide.
