Non-essential stores in the city closed for two weeks following PM's mandate

The shutters have come down on stores across Da Nang after the Prime Minister ordered all non-essential retail shops to close as part of sweeping measures intended to limit the impact of coronavirus in the country.

Mr Nguyen Cong An, Head of the Management Board of the Dong Da Market, said about 200 market stalls selling essential goods including fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, are allowed to stay open, whilst non-essential stalls have been forced to close.

Mr An noted that an automatic hand sanitiser dispenser has been already placed at the market in a bid to encourage traders and shoppers here to clean their hands in order to prevent the coronavirus infection. In addition, shoppers are advised to wear face masks when shopping here.

Head of the Management Board of the Han Market Nguyen Trung Thanh remarked stallholders selling non-essential goods in this market have already taken the decision to close their stores for the safety of themselves and their customers.

As of Wednesday afternoon, all non-essential stalls in 7 Son Tra District-based markets have closed, and these markets have been disinfected.
