A report released by the Da Nang Management Board of Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, an investor cum manager of the 3-level overpass project at western end of Tran Thi Ly Bridge, shows that, till date, only 24% of the construction work on the project has been completed, running behind schedule.

The main reasons for the work being behind schedule is thought to be that the construction units have faced some difficulties arising during the work.

Besides, the project’s contractors have lacked of close coordination with relevant agencies in timely handling arising problems, as well as faced delays in the selection of construction equipment and machinery that are suitable for the topography and geology of the construction site.

The capacity of the construction contractors and units has not adapted to such a large-scale project.

During his recent inspection visit to the construction site of the project, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang urged the construction units to accelerate this important project, and ensure that the construction work will be completed within 450 days starting from the signature date of the contract.

The municipal Party chief urged the Hai Chau District authorities to speed up the site clearance and compensation for affected families, thereby facilitating the smooth implementation of the project.

A representative from the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation JSC (CIENCO4), a project contractor, remarked that, in recent days, his unit has deployed full human resources and construction equipment to keep progress on track.

According to the Da Nang Management Board of Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, the building of approach roads to the Tran Thi Ly Bridge is underway, and the work is expected to be completed on 10 May.

Meanwhile, the construction of a 4-lane road tunnel taking Duy Tan under the busy junctions with Le Dinh Tham and Nui Thanh streets is in progress, and it is scheduled to be completed on 27 October.

The basic construction of the steel overpass over 2 September Street is slated to be completed on 14 September. The upgrade of a road running behind wedding venues facing 2 September Street, and the extended Nguyen Son Tra Street is expected to be completed on 25 April.

Starting from next month, work will start on another section of Duy Tan between its intersections with Nui Thanh and 2 September streets. The construction work is expected to be completed in November 2021.
