The Da Nang Department of Tourism and its counterparts in the neighbouring provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Binh jointly organise a webninar which discussed ways to attract more tourists from France to the 4 localities once COVID-19 is put under control with the resumption of commercial international flights in the coming time.

The virtual event saw the participations of representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, the Viet Nam Entrepreneurs’ Association in France and a total of more than 20 French travel, event and media companies exploiting the Vietnamese market, and representatives from relevant agencies, and a sum of 60 tourism businesses based in the 4 aforementioned localities.

According to a representative of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the number of tourists from France to Central Viet Nam has grown impressively over the past decade.

In particular, the non-stop Da Nang-Doha service, operated by Qatar Airways, has helped the central Vietnamese city easily connect with business and leisure destinations in the Middle East, Western Europe and North America.

In 2019, the total number of French travellers coming to the 4 central localities reached 210,250, and 45.4% of them stayed at serviced accommodation facilities.

The webinar highlighted the message ‘Central Viet Nam - A safe and friendly destination’ and tourist product packages promisingly attractive to international visitors.

In particular, French businesses were briefed  on the progress of the fight against COVID-19 in Central Viet Nam, and the entire country at large.

The event’s participants also joined discussions on the widespread vaccination drives and the piloting of ‘COVID-19 vaccine passports’ policy, as well as plans to restore tourism activities when Viet Nam opens its border. It is also hoped that the Viet Nam- France direct flights will be resume in the coming time.
