Goods retail sales go up by 5.6% during Jan. - Sept. period
According to recent updates released by the Da Nang Statistics Bureau on the city’s economic performance between January and September, the service sector was greatly affected by COVID-19. Still encouragingly, the retail sales of goods and services during the 9- month period reached nearly VND43,066 billion, up 5.6% as compared to the same period last year.
The total revenue generated from the groups of accommodation, catering, travel and other consumer services was estimated to stand at nearly VND16,697 billion, down 16.5% from the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the total earnings from transportation, support services and post and delivery went down 3.6% to reach VND13,105 billion.
Also in a downward trend, industrial production index plunged by 4.2%. In detail, the mining industry increased by 27.8%, whereas the processing and manufacturing suffered a decline of nearly 5% and the water production, and wastewater and waste treatment, also saw a fall of 4.6%.
Total import and export turnover of goods was estimated at over US$2.2 billion, a rise of 14.1%, whilst the trade surplus reached US$328.3 million.
The export value recorded a rise of 14.9% to hit over US$1.3 billion, and the import value also went up by 13% to stay at over S$977.6 million.
