8 locally-made products evaluated for recognition as OCOP ones
The assessment of 8 Da Nang-developed products for their municipal-level recognition under the city-launched ‘One Commune-One Product (OCOP)’ programme is progressing for the time being.
The municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Food Safety Management Board are in charge of inspecting the actual production of the 8 products and carrying out evaluation and classification activities.
Functional local agencies have given support for the display of typical agricultural and OCOP products for sale at the Hoa Phong No 1 Agricultural Production Service Cooperative, Cam Toai Trung Village, Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District.
Meanwhile, the setting up of 2 other OCOP product selling points at the Bac Dau Co., Ltd and Hoa Phu Agricultural Cooperative is also underway.
Also, heed will be paid to accelerating trade promotion and quality certification, and put the city's OCOP products on the Voso.vn e-commerce platform operated by Viettel Post Corporation (VTP).
Da Nang government has developed specific plans to implement the OCOP programme in order to develop OCOP products into the key, prestigious, good-quality and highly competitive ones in the home market.
Under the plans, active support from Da Nang authorities will be provided for economic actors, with priority given to cooperatives, and small and medium-sized enterprises in a bid to boost their active engagement in the programme.
The OCOP model made its debut in 2008 in Viet Nam, following the model of Japan-initiated ‘One Village, One Product’ and Thailand-developed ‘One Town, One Product’.
It is an economic development programme for rural areas focusing on increasing internal power and values, which is also meant to help with the national target programme on upgrading rural areas.
