Da Nang eyes more support from Vietnamese representative missions abroad in foreign investment attraction
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday held an online meeting between Vietnamese ambassadors and consul-generals for the 2021 - 2024 term who are going to take on missions abroad with leaders of 17 provinces and cities in the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions.
Addressing the event, on behalf of the leaders of the Da Nang leaders, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen, one of the event’s participants, hoped that the newly-accredited Vietnamese ambassadors and consul-generals would perform their assigned tasks well during their terms, and especially, support Da Nang in investment promotion and attraction for its socio-economic development.
In detail, Da Nang would like the ambassadors and consuls-general, during the 2021-2024 term, to support the introduction of the Da Nang investment environment to potential partners and markets such as the U.S, India and Germany, thereby helping the city lure more foreign investment into its Hi-tech Park and Centralized Information Technology (IT) Park.
Besides, Da Nang is looking forward to attracting more visitors from a number of key markets such as Russia, China and some Asian and European countries in the post-COVID-19 period.
At the same time, it is need to mobilise foreign partners in implementing Da Nang’s major projects such as ‘Smart City’, ‘Environmentally-friendly City’ and ‘Building a Regional Financial Centre’.
Also at the meeting, the leaders of other cities and provinces in the Central Viet Nam and the Central Highlands regions briefed other participants on an overview of the socio-economic development situation, potential, strengths, priority aspects and key projects available for investment attraction in the regions.
It was believed that the ambassadors and consuls-general would act as ‘a bridge’ promoting the links between regional localities and foreign partners.
The ambassadors and heads of the missions to foreign counties are required to put focal points to the overseas Vietnamese, prioritizing citizen protection, preserving the national values abroad, and mobilizing overseas sources for the country’s development.
Delivering closing speech at the event, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would strive to promote trade cooperation between the Vietnamese localities and foreign partners, speed up foreign investment attraction, and create maximum conditions for the localities in implementing their ‘dual’ goals amid the complicated developments of COVID-19.
In particular, Deputy Minister Dung suggested that the Vietnamese ambassadors and consuls-general in foreign countries for the 2021 - 2024 term to promote their pioneering role in promoting overseas Vietnamese missions in an effort to make more practical and effective contributions to the process of comprehensive recovery and sustainable development of the country, and each locality in particular.
