Tet flower markets 2022 are opening at the March 29 Square opposite the 2 September Peace Monument, a vacant land lot opposite the Lien Chieu District Administrative Centre, and the Hoa Vang District Administrative Centre until January 31 (29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Lunar Year of Ox).

As noted, this year's flower markets have witnessed a significant decrease in both the number of Tet flowers and sellers but there are still varieties of flowers and ornamental plants being offered at reasonable prices.

As observed in the morning of January 23, a full range of flowers and ornamental plants were on sale at the flower market at the March 29 Square in order to serve the increasing needs of locals for home decorations during the forthcoming Tet Festival.

In recent days, vibrant atmosphere has been recorded at flower markets in Da Nang as many people have visited the markets to buy flowers for home decorations.

In general, varieties of flowers and ornamental plants are now available for sale at on-going Tet flower markets, including daisies, yellow apricot blossoms, kumquats, and pink peach blossoms. In addition, there are also ornamental plants and eye-catching stone lotuses but their prices do not change much in order to meet the needs and budgets of local habitants.

For example, the prices of large-sized pots of kumquats range from VND3 million - VND25 million each depending on their sizes, and small-sized pots of rhododendrons are being sold at the prices of from VND150,000 - VND200,000 each. Prices of peach blossom trees sourced from Northern Viet Nam are costing from VND1 million to several millions of VND each.

According to many small traders, this year’s Tet flower markets have seen a remarkable decrease in the number of flowers and ornamental plants for sale due to the impact of COVID-19.

Mrs. Tran Thi Hong Anh, Director of Loc Phat Co., Ltd. based in Cam Le District, said that as compared to previous years, this year’s number of Tet flowers for sale has decreased by about 30% against last year’s with a focus on seven-color bougainvilleas, raspberries, chrysanthemums, daisies, and Dalat hydrangeas.

“If the purchasing and selling power for Tet in the coming days is stable, our company will continue to import more floral products for sale in a bid to serve the shopping needs of locals” added Mrs. Anh.

Meanwhile, chrysanthemums and kumquats are dominating the Tet flower market opposite the Lien Chieu District Administrative Center. Also, a number of eye-catching ornamental plants are being offered for sale.

Mr. Phan Viet Vu, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, rented a stall to sell all kinds of fortune trees.

He said that trees of good fortune imported from the northern provinces are on sale at the prices of between VND750,000 and VND1 million per pot, whilst the cascading magic trees are being offered at the prices of VND250,000 and VND800,000 per pot.

In addition, he sourced bougainvilleas from Ben Tre Province and kumquat trees from Hoi An City to sell.

Like previous years, the two stalls selling Northern peach blossom trees in front of the Lien Chieu District Administration Center drew much attention from local residents even though there is still more than a week left until the Lunar New Year.

Mr. Huynh Cong My, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, said he has sold peach blossom trees for the 7th consecutive year. This year, he imported about 400 peach blossom trees from Hai Duong Province to sell and their prices range from VND1 million – VND7 million depending on the sizes.

Similarly, at the Tet flower markets at the Hoa Vang District Administrative Center in Duong Lam 1 Village, Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District, chrysanthemums and kumquats are amongst the best-sellers.

Mr. Dang Dong Huy, a kumquat tree seller in Hoa Vang District, said this was the 9th year he had sold kumquat trees at the Tet flower market. To serve this Tet holiday, Huy imported more than 100 pots of kumquat trees with the prices from VND2.5 million.
