Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks in Da Nang approach ecological development model
How to develop eco-industrial parks in Da Nang was put in the spotlight at Friday's virtual workshop.
Co-organised by the Authority of Da Nang's Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks and Japan's Yokohama Partnership of Resources and Technologies (Y-PORT), the online event drew much attention from businesses and business associations operating in Hi-tech parks and industrial parks in Da Nang and other provinces and cities across the country.
In Da Nang, the Lien Chieu District-based Hoa Khanh Industrial Park is one of the first three industrial parks nationwide to pioneer in participating in the ‘Eco-industrial Park Initiative for Sustainable Industrial Zones in Viet Nam' project.
On April 2, 2021, the municipal government issued a decision to implement the 'Building Da Nang into an Environmentally-friendly City' project for the 2021 – 2030 period. Under the project, Da Nang targets to develop at least one eco-industrial park by 2025, and three ones by 2030.
To realise this goal, in the coming time, the Authority of Da Nang's Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks will focus on five groups of tasks, namely making a list of full-time and part-time environmental protection officers at enterprises; conducting surveys on the need to organise training courses on energy and waste audit, and new regulations on environmental protection in industrial parks; reviewing the amount of waste released at enterprises to propose potential symbiosis models; identifying difficulties and obstacles to form at least one symbiosis model in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park in 2023; creating a green financial handbook; and organising seminars to introduce preferential capital sources and support enterprises to innovate production lines.
