More than 99,000 economic units participate in 2021 Economic Census
Da Nang ranked 6th place out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide that have completed the 2021 Economic Census, up 48 places compared to 2017.
The information was released by Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh at a Wednesday meeting to announce preliminary results of the 2021 Economic Census.
Standing Vice Chairman Minh remarked that the economic census was an important activity conducted by statistical offices with the aim of providing comprehensive data as a premise for the implementation of the city’s planning policies, thereby contributing to restructuring the economy, renewing the growth model, and improving the efficiency, labor productivity and competitiveness of enterprises as well as the city's economy.
The municipal People's Committee proposed the Da Nang Statistical Department to continue to fully exploit the results from the census to comprehensively reflect the city’s economic situation in service of the direction and administration of the city leaders.
Results of the 2021 Economic Census showed that a total of 99,166 economic units in the city have joined the economic survey, up 10.3% as compared to 2017. In which, there were 745 non-business units, associations, and non-governmental organisations; 18,947 enterprises and cooperatives; 79,149 individual business establishments; and 325 religious facilities.
As of December 31, 2020, the city was now home to a total of 18,886 businesses, an increase of 10.4% against 2019 and 32.7 % against 2017.
The number of non-State enterprises increased sharply and accounted for the highest proportion of 97.2%, from 13,834 in 2016 to 18,356 in 2020.
The largest number of enterprises was in Hai Chau and Thanh Khe districts.
Cam Le District took the lead in the growth rate of the number of businesses with an average growth rate of 16.3%/year during the 2016-2020 period.
The number of employees working in the enterprise sector was 273,500 people, down 11% compared to 2019, and 4.1% compared to during the 2016-2020 period.
The city had a combined total of 79,149 individual non- agriculture, forestry, and fishery production and business establishments, a rise of 4,625 compared to 2017.
Also at the event, one group and five individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, whilst another five collectives and 12 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Da Nang People's Committee, in recognition for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of the 2021 Economic Census.
