Da Nang CPI up 1.11% in May
The latest figures released from the Da Nang General Statistics Office show that Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in May increased by 1.11% as compared to the previous month, and up 3.52% over the same period last year.
As compared to April, 9 out of the 11 main groups of goods and services recorded an increase in CPI, namely transportation up by 2.76%; culture, entertainment and tourism 1.47%; food and catering services 1.33%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials 1.27%; beverages and tobacco 0.7%; household appliances 0.38%; apparel, hats and footwear 0.25%; medicine and medical services 0.2%; other goods and services 0.11%.
The post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.29% as compared to the previous month.
The remaining one with stable CPI is the education group.
The CPI rise was mainly attributed to hikes in the gasoline price 3 times, causing the price index of kerosene group to increase by 3.96% and the price index of raw materials such as gasoline, lubricants and diesel oil to go up by 5.63%.
Under the impacts of higher prices of gasoline and oil over the months, the costs of raw materials and input materials and related expenses have also go up, such as food and catering services.
In addition, given the arrival of the hot season, the demand for electricity and water in the community has increased, leading to an increase in the price of tap water by 3.26% and that of electricity for the city-wide use up by 3.46% compared to the previous month.
