Da Nang will host a series of events in June in a bid to attract domestic and foreign investment as well as drive rapid recovery of tourism and trade sectors in an attempt to rebuild dynamic post-COVID economy.

A series of events to be held

During a press conference on Tuesday, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh remarked that a series of economic, trade, and investment events would take place in the city in June. Especially, the Da Nang Investment Forum which will be held both in-person at the Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort and virtually on Zoom on June 26 is the most important event in the city.

Routes Asia will take place in Viet Nam for the first time in 2022, with the Da Nang People’s Committee, Da Nang Department of Tourism and IPP Travel Retail being selected as the hosts of the 16^th annual route development forum. The international event is slated to be held in the city from June 4- 9, and it is expected to see the participation of around 450 delegates from 200 international aviation agencies and organisations from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The Mikazuki Hotel at the US$100 million Da Nang - Mikazuki Japanese Resorts&Spa complex is expected to officially open its doors to guests on June 1. The 22-storey hotel features 294 modernly-decorated standard rooms and sea view suites with an area of 70– 400 square meters each, located from the 6^th – 21^st floors. Each Japanese-style room has outdoor bathtub and private balcony. The official inauguration ceremony of the Mikazuki Hotel which will be hosted by ODK Mikazuki Viet Nam Company Limited is scheduled to take place on June 8.

Besides, Da Nang will kick off construction on 4 projects, namely Resettlement Area for families affected by the Da Nang University Village Project, the Long Thanh Plastic Factory located in Lien Chieu IP, the Nesta Da Nang centre located in Dedicated Information Technology (IT) Park, and a project developed by the Dana Logistics Joint Stock Company in the Expanded Hoa Khanh IP.

Apart from advertising and promoting OCOP(One Commune- One Product) products, typical products, souvenirs made for tourists, rural industrial products, traditional craft villages and other local produce in efforts to boost sales in these products, the city will organize a conference to bring the locally made/sourced products to traditional markets, trade centers, supermarkets, and stores across the city in late June.

Furthermore, a series of activities will be held across Da Nang to welcome the 2022 summer and promote tourism as well as make the city more attractive to tourists. Included are Sea and Han River festival, Beauty Contests, Boat Races, Martial Arts Competitions, and Beach Sporting Events,  the ‘Enjoy Danang Summer 2022’ Festival featuring a wide range of exciting events to take place at the Asia Park, the Sun World Ba Na Hills Resort, the East Sea Park and beaches, National Rowing and Canoeing Clubs Championship.

Taking advantages of the city’s potentials and its strenghs to attract investment

Municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highlighted the importance of the Da Nang Investment Forum 2022 in introducing the city's potentials, its strenghths and investment opportunities to domestic and foreign investors in order to get investors, especically those from foreign countries, to put money into the city’s projects in order to drive the city’s economic growth post- COVID-19.

The forum is expected to attract more than 500 delegates who are leaders of national ministries and agencies, diplomatic missions, international organisations, business associations, domestic and foreign enterprises and investors, relevant agencies and organisations in the city.

At the forum, the city will announce information on the plan and progress of adjusting the functional zoning plan according to the Da Nang Master Plan Adjustment Project by 2030, with a look toward 2045 as approved by the Prime Minister, projects available for investment in the city, the list of land fund available for investment attraction, the process of investment preparation and investor selection for investment projects that do not use State budget capital and are implemented outside IPs, hi-tech parks, Dedicated IT Park, industrial clusters across the city.

Proposals made by the Da Nang authorities submitted to the government on the promulgation of specific mechanisms and policies for a number of key projects in the city will also be announced at the event.

The forum will open up an opportunity for Da Nang government to directly dialogue with businesses and investors about its development potentials and goals, as well as listen to pieces of advice, suggestions, recommendations and proposals from the business community so that more effective measures can be taken to give a facelift to the local investment and business environment, thereby making Da Nang truly become an attractive investment destination in Viet Nam.

Also at this event, investment licences and investment policy decisions will be granted for some domestic and FDI projects. In addition, cooperation agreements between Da Nang and its domestic and foreign partners will be signed at the event. Moreover, outstanding organizations and businesses will be honoured for their dedication and commitment to the city’s investment promotion activities.

On the sidelines of the Da Nang Investment Forum 2022, diversity events will be organised in the city. Included are exhibitions featuring adjustments to Master Plan for Da Nang to 2030 with a vision to 2045, and key projects calling for investment which will take place at Sheraton Grand Danang Resort, Da Nang Administrative Center and APEC Sculpture Park before, during and after the forum. Furthermore, ground-breaking and inaugurating ceremonies for some key projects will be held in the city in addition to field trips to the sites of the Lien Chieu Port, Hi-tech Park, Dedicated IT Park, and Software Park No. 2 to be carried out.
