Da Nang seaport belongs to Class I seaport
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has signed Decision No. 804/QD-TTg dated July 8, 2022 announcing the list of 34 Vietnamese seaports. Of this, the Da Nang Port is recognised as a c]lass I seaport.

According to the list, out of 34 Vietnamese seaports, there are 2 special seaports: Hai Phong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
Eleven seaports of Class I are the seaports of Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Can Tho.
Seven seaports of class II are the seaports of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Thuan, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, and Tra Vinh.
There are 14 seaports of class III, namely the seaports of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Duong, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, An Giang, Vinh Long, Ca Mau and Kien Giang.
Previously, the national government issued Decree No. 76/2021/D-CP dated July 28, 2021 providing criteria for classification of seaports.
According to this Decree, criteria for assessing and classifying seaports in Viet Nam include criteria on the scope of influence of seaports and criteria on the size of seaports.
This Decree stipulates the assessment and classification of seaports according to the scoring method. The rating scale with a maximum of 100 points, determined specifically for each criterion.
Last year, the Da Nang Port recorded a remarkable growth in production and business activities despite the serve impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the total volume of container cargo transported through the port increased by 20%, and the port’s growth revenue rose by 18% against 2020.
