Da Nang sees sharp rise in tourists during National Day Holiday

The number of tourists visiting Da Nang increased by 58% on a year-on-year basis to over 239,000 during the 4-day break for the National Day Holiday. The city has offered an array of many exciting events for this important public holiday, and tourist attractions were packed with visitors.

Crowded tourist attractions

Mr Tan Van Vuong, the Deputy Director of the Municipal Department of Tourism said that Da Nang saw a sharp increase in tourist arrivals during the National Day Holiday due to a wide range events for holiday celebrations along with fine weather conditions.

During the four-day-long break from September 1- 4, Da Nang welcomed around 215,000 domestic visitors, nearly doubling compared to the same period in 2019 while the number of foreigners visiting the city was estimated at close to 24,000. Between August 31 and September 4, Da Nang received 443 domestic flights and 97 international ones.

Some tourist sites recorded the highest number of visitors during the holiday with about 40,000 visitors registered for the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area, around 35,000 visitors for the Asia Park, about 35,000 visitors for the Son Tra Peninsula, about 25,000 visitors for the Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park, about 11,000 visitors for the Marble Moutains, and about 11,000 visitors for the Mikazuki Water Park 365.  Between September 1 and September 3, occupancy rate at 4 to 5- star beachfront accommodation establishments reached about 70-80% while the figure at hotels in the inner city reached about 40-45%.

Abundant supply of goods with stable prices

During the holiday, local residents and tourists in the city enjoyed abundant supply of goods across supermarkets and commercial centers while stable prices were offered to them. Tradditional markets, supermarkets and commercial centers were more crowded than usual but there was no rise in the prices of goods in these shopping venues.

The GO! supermarket had stockpiled goods with over 50% increase compared to normal days. From August 25 through September 7,the GO! is launching a special discount program entitled ‘Proud to Welcome the Great Holiday’ with 15 to 20% off many fast-moving consumer goods, household appliances, home care products, fresh foods, vegetables and fruits, and more. During the holiday, retailers across Da Nang, including Co.opmart Da Nang, Lotte Mart, and Vicom plaza offered great deals on their products with a focus on offering discount programs as much as possible, and diversifying their offerings.

According to the Management Board of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf, more than 120 fishing boats from central localities docked at the this fishing port during the past few days, providing the market with more than 800 tons of fish, shrimp, squid and other seafood products.

Seafood supplies increased by 5-10% during the National Day Holiday compared to normal days, said Mr Nguyen Lai, the Deputy Head of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf.

Data provided by the Municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that the number of poultry slaughtered during the holiday went up by over 5% compared to normal days to serve the rising consumer demand during the holiday. More than 60 cows and buffaloes, 1,200 pigs, plus 5,500 chickens and ducks were slaughtered daily during the holiday break.

The Da Nang Food Safety Management Board has set up 5 inspection teams to enhance regular monitoring of food safety at traditional markets and catering establishments.
