On Tuesday, the Da Nang Port received Wan Hai Lines’ WanHai 362 container ship belonging to the AA3 service route which connects Viet Nam to the ports of Long Beach and Oakland in the USA.

This is the first container ship to depart from the Da Nang-based Tien Sa, carrying export goods directly to the Long Beach Port on the west coast of the USA without having to transfer to any mother ship as before.

Wan Hai is currently the 11th largest container shipping line in the world and owns 69 mother vessels including WAN HAI 362 container ship, registered in Singapore, newly built in 2023, with a length of 203.5m, a width of 34.8m, 36,776 DWT and 3,013TEU in capacity.

It is the largest container ship to dock at the Tien Sa Port for imports and exports on September 5.

It takes only about 21 days for the container ship to travel directly from the Tien Sa Port to the Long Beach Port, the USA instead of 25-28 days as before. This helps minimise the risk of damage to goods or avoiding the risk of not being able to promptly connect the mother ship with other transshipment ports.

It is known that the ship departs from India (Cochin - Nhava Sheva – Tuticorin ports) and follows the Malaysia (Klang Port) - China (Shekuo Port) – Viet Nam (Tien Sa / Da Nang - Tan Cang Cai Mep ports) - China (Shekuo- Xiamen ports) - Taiwan (Taipei Port) - China (Shanghai - Ningbo ports) - the USA (Long Beach – Oakland ports) route.

At the Tien Sa Port, 482 container goods were unloaded whilst 115 TEUs of goods, including 50 TEUs of export goods from Da Nang were loaded on the ship, including garments, furniture, children's toys, coils, and aircraft components.

The arrival of the container ship shows that Da Nang Port continues to receive the trust of shipping lines, and be a reliable choice for them to develop a wide connection network, thereby gradually affirming the capacity of Da Nang Port.

In the coming time, the Da Nang Port is expected to receive more service routes to turn itself into a reliable destination for import and export goods of not only central regional localities but also provinces of Southern Laos and Northeast Cambodia.
