Da Nang - a bright spot for post-pandemic tourism rebound

Da Nang has become a bright spot for quick tourism rebound after COVID-19, continuing to be the brightest highlight in all economic sectors, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang at the Thursday meeting to review the performance of the local tourism industry in the first 9 months of 2023, and identify key tasks in the last months of 2023 and 2024.

Secretary Quang highly praised the important and great contributions of the tourism industry to the overall growth of the city in recent years. He required the determination and unanimity of the entire city's political system, the support of the business community and the cooperation of the people in order to do a better job of developing service tourism in 2024, thereby affirming the city's tourism brand on the domestic and foreign maps.

He noted that top priority should be given to removing difficulties and obstacles in tourism activities and policy mechanisms, and taking solutions to speed up the progress large-scale tourism projects, hereby creating unique and different new tourism products that are pervasive for the development of the city.

Speaking at the event, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet underlined a must-do for the city to promote local tourism at both domestic and foreign tourist markets in the coming time.

Meanwhile, local People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong stressed the need for the local tourism industry to learn about travel trends and habits, and tourist behaviours after COVID-19 in a bid to consider finding new markets and renewing tourism products.

In his conclusion speech at the event, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh underlined the necessity for the city to focus on key tasks such as building a tourism environment associated with the urban environment, cultural environment, and biological environment; ensuring food hygiene and traffic safety; and overcoming recent situations and limitations.

He said the city will develop policy mechanisms to support tourism businesses; train human resources, and promote socialization in order to develop the city's general tourism.

According to Mrs. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, although there are still many difficulties and challenges, the department will focus on developing tourism and high-quality services; adding new and unique tourism products; opening international air routes; training human resources; improving service quality; continuing to find solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles; expediting the implementation of key projects; and creating motivation for the development of tourism and the nighttime economy.

During the meeting, investors and businesses had many contributions and plans to develop city tourism in the last months of the year and the following years.
