This socio-economic master plan continues to affirm the position and role of Da Nang as mentioned in Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 adopted by the Politburo on construction and development of Da Nang by 2030, with a vision to 2045, and the adjustments to the Da Nang Master Plan by 2030, with a vision to 2045 according to Decision No. 359/QD-TTg dated March 15, 2021 by the Prime Minister.

As assessed by Former Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Ngoc Chinh, the Chairman of the Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association, Da Nang is the central city of the key central economic region and the Central - Central Highlands region. Da Nang is identified as one of the country's three growth poles and has a very important position and role, acting as a driving force for the entire Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions to make more development strides.

The national government has paid attention to helping Da Nang developing reasonable planning strategies since then there have been many development projects suitable for the city’s development as well as the country to build Da Nang worthy of being an advanced urban hub of the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions, as well as being one of the country's growth poles.

According to Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Tang Hoang Hoan Tham, the Da Nang Master Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050 just approved by the Prime Minister, basically follows Resolution No. 43 - Resolution/TW of the Politburo and adjustments to the Da Nang Master Plan by 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

At the same time, there are adjustments and additions of new points. The planning content has clearly defined the viewpoint of focusing on economic development according to 3 pillars.

Accordingly, in addition to the two pillars of knowledge economy and high-quality service center, the planning has synchronously integrated cultural elements into tourism development to make them become an important pillar of the city and clearly stated: “Tourism is associated with resort real estate, international event centres, and cultural elements, creating uniqueness and difference, creating added value for the tourism pillar”.

The plan also determines that, in the coming period, the city will have 6 priority industry groups and fields with space, development resources and connections with localities, regional and international cities. This shows the position, role as well as the goal orientation of developing Da Nang into one of the major socio-economic centres of the country and one of the major socio-economic centres of Southeast Asia.

According to the Da Nang Master Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050, Da Nang is currently one of the major economic centers of the Central Viet Nam- Central Highlands regions, a large centre of trade - services, telecommunications, information technology, education and training, healthcare with the leading position in Central Viet Nam.

Da Nang can act as a main partner for trade and cooperation between Da Nang, Central Viet Nam and the broader Southeast Asia region. The city's trade and investment openness will continue to increase in the future because the room to exploit economic corridors is still large, especially when the city's economic structure is shifting towards industries with highly potential high export capacity with information technology and high technology.

Da Nang is one of the key international sea and air routes, serving as one of the gateways to the sea of the Central Highlands and the countries of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar through the East-East Economic Corridor No. 2 with the end point at the Tien Sa Port, creating favourable conditions for vibrant and sustainable development.

Da Nang is also the centre of the ‘World Heritage Road’ connecting Vietnamese heritage sites and two other world heritage sites, the ancient capital of Luang Prabang and the Angkor Wat complex, so it will be a destination and transit point for domestic and international tourists.
