During the first days of 2024, Da Nang happily welcomed about 402,000 visitors, an increase of 37% over the same period in 2023, nearly 177,000 of whom were foreigners. This shows that Da Nang is still a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.

One of the advantages that tourists highly appreciate is that Da Nang regularly refreshes its tourist attractions.

For example, during the recent 2024 Lunar New Year holiday break, many miniature Tet decorations were installed, attracting a large number of tourists for enjoyment. Not to mention, tourist areas and attractions also have numerous highly - inviting entertainment activities and art performances to serve tourists.

Arriving in Da Nang from the Zhao Shang Yi Dun cruise ship on February 14, Ms. Chen Liu Yang, a Chinese tourist, spent a lot of time going out and visiting areas near the city centre. She said that before her Da Nang trip, she had only known that Da Nang was a coastal city. When she arrived, she was quite surprised by the vibrant and bustling atmosphere.

Even though the first days of the Lunar New Year have passed, the Tet atmosphere was still bustling with brightly-decorated streets. Because the ship stayed overnight at the Tien Sa port, Ms. Yang and many other tourists had more time to visit the Sun World Ba Na Hills and museums.

In addition to attractions and check-in venues in the city centre, many tourists choose these tourist attractions for spring travel at the beginning of the year.

Recently, bus route No.3, connecting the Da Nang International Airport with the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area, has been put into operation, contributing to increasing the choice of transportation solutions for tourists when coming to Da Nang.

The Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area also has launched many art programmes and festivals to better serve both residents and tourists.

Ms. Song Min He, a South Korean national said that the reason for choosing the Sun World Ba Na Hills in her family's itinerary is because this place is both a spiritual place to celebrate at the beginning of the year and has spring festival activities with interesting experience.

To enrich tourism products in the city, the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre has renewed tourism products from cyclos. The fleet of 83 cyclos is uniformly designed in style, colour, size, outfit, especially the drivers' straw hats with the Danang Fantasticity logo, contributing to bringing a more beautiful image to Da Nang.

A representative of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre said that members of the tourist cyclo team meet health standards, understand traffic laws, foreign languages and have knowledge of local attractions.

Every year, team members participate in the centre-held training courses on foreign languages, knowledge and skills on civilised culture and behaviour in serving tourists.

Thanks to these aforementioned preparations, the tour around the city by cyclo helps tourists enjoy and explore the inner city of Da Nang such as Han River, Dragon Bridge, Han River Bridge, Cham Sculpture Museum, APEC Sculpture Garden Park, Han Market and the Da Nang Cathedral has just enjoyed local cuisine with a 30-45 minute journey chosen by many tourists, especially international visitors.

It is known that by 2024, the Da Nang tourism industry aims to welcome 8.4 million tourists. The increase in the number of domestic and international visitors to Da Nang during the recent Lunar New Year holiday break is a positive sign for the city’s tourism.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong, given the large number of visitors in the first days of the Lunar New Year, Da Nang continues to accelerate promotion activities and enhance the quality of the existing tourism products and services. Along with that is diversifying services, products, and increasing experiences to meet the increasing needs of tourists.

The tourism industry is focusing on organising research on trends and tourist tastes in key and potential markets, forecasting the market situation and organising appropriate tourism stimulation activities. Also, the city will search for new and potential markets and market segments and develop online platforms targeting international markets such as Douyin (Taiwan, China) and Naver (South Korea).

The city will promote the hiring of Da Nang tourism representatives in key international markets, with a heed to re-nominating Da Nang tourism representatives in South Korea and Japan in 2024 and those in China, India, Australia and Indonesia in 2025.

Regular and charter international routes from China and the Da Nang - Doha direct flight to reconnect with North American and European markets will be restored.

Besides, there will be a rise in the number of flights connecting Da Nang to Indonesia, India, Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Phuket (Thailand), northeast Thailand and Gangwon (South Korea).
