Da Nang welcomes first 1,800 international cruise ship passengers of Lunar New Year 2024

Dream Cruise cruise ship berthed at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port on Saturday morning (the first day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), bringing the first international cruise ship passengers of the lunar new year to the city.

Arranged by the Khang Huy Holiday Vietnam Tourism Company Limited, the cruise ship carried a total of more than 1,800 Chinese passengers.

Dream Cruise is a 5-star standard luxury international cruise ship has a length of up to 261.3m, width of 32.2m, and speed of 22 knots/hour. The 16-floor ship has 1,008 rooms in total with comfortable interiors including the most modern equipment, capable of serving more than 2,000 people.

A representative of the Dream Cruise ship owners, said that this was the first time the Dream Cruise ship had arrived in the Tien Sa Port and had received great support in terms of procedures from local functional units.

In the coming time, the Dream Cruise ship will continue to bring many more international tourists, mainly Chinese tourists from the Hainan Island to Da Nang.

A tourist from the Hainan Island, China, expressed "This is the first time I have visited Da Nang and have received warm welcome from the local government and people. I really like coming to Da Nang and after this trip, I will also return to the central coastal city to explore and experience more about the worth living city".

During their stay in the city, the cruise ship passengers are taken to some of Da Nang's popular tourist attractions such as the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, the Linh Ung Pagoda, and the Museum of Cham Sculpture.

Da Nang is considered a convenient destination for international shipping lines because it is located on an important maritime traffic route in Asia, suitable for connecting cruise lines in the region and in the world.

Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong remarked cruise ship passengers were an important source of visitors to the city's tourism industry. To attract more cruise ship passengers to the city, the local tourism industry focused on boosting promotion activities and diversifying products to meet the needs and tastes for guests and increase their experience.

In 2023, the city welcomed a total of 22 cruise ship arrivals with more than 18,000 passengers in total. In 2024, the city is expected to receive more than 45 cruise ship arrivals bringing more than 50,000 tourists to the city. This is a positive signal signaling a prosperous new lunar year for the loca tourism industry.
