The municipal People's Committee has just approved the project on developing yachting industry and services in the city, aimed at creating new development motivation for the city, especially tourism - one of its spearhead economic sectors.

According to the project, in the 2023-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, 38 yachting service and industry development projects, totalling about VND7,260 billion funded by social investment capital, will be carried out across the city.

Of the figure, there will be five international marinas and 33 conventional marinas. The 38 projects include yacht building factories, yacht repair and maintenance centres, mechanical manufacturing industries, and complexes providing services related to yachts and marinas.

Notable among them will be the 1ha international marina on the Han River along Bach Dang Street, the 3ha international marina at the Da Phuoc International Urban Area in Hai Chau District at phase 1, the Thuan Phuoc international marina, a marina at the Tien Sa Seaport in Son Tra District, the DHC Marina in Son Tra District, the Euro Village Marina in Son Tra District, the Bach Dang Marina near the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge in Hai Chau District, a marina at the foot of the Dragon Bridge in Hai Chau District, a marina at the Lang Van Tourist Site in Lien Chieu District, and a marina at the InterContinental Peninsula Resort in Son Tra Peninsula.

In the first phase of the project, by 2025, Da Nang will prioritise implementing eight yacht-related service projects with two international marinas on the Han River along Bach Dang Street and at the Da Phuoc International Urban Area.

According to the project, the total land use demand for yachting industrial and service development is 87 hectares. Of which, 64 hectares will be earmarked for the development of yachting industries, and 23 hectares for yachting services.

According to the project's orientation, the current international cruise ship routes will be maintained, especially Singapore and Hong Kong.

Besides, attention will be paid to expanding the scope to such foreign countries as the US, Europe, Japan, and Singapore, and targeting high-income and high-spending customers.

Moreover, the city will lay an emphasis on maintaining the international yacht operating area in the Tien Sa Port area, as well as converting the function of an existing marina exclusively for international yachts in the 2023-2025 period on a trial basis, and arranging infrastructure to serve international tourists by sea at the area.

As for inland waterway routes, the Han River - Tran Thi Ly Bridge route continues to be promoted.

At the same time, priority will be given to researching and developing more inland waterway routes within Da Nang and Da Nang - Quang Nam, including the Han River - Marble Mountains, the Han River - Vinh Dien River - Hon Kem Da Dung (Thu Bon River), Han River - Vinh Dien River - Qua Giang River - Lac Thanh river - Ai Nghia River - Vu Gia River, and the Co Co River.

After 2025, Da Nang will research and develop routes on the Cu De - Truong Dinh River, and build inland waterway marinas in the Dragon Bridge, Asia Park, and Ngu Hanh Son District in order to boost post-pandemic tourism recovery.

Regarding coastal routes, Da Nang will prioritise developing routes associated with Da Nang's island tourism such as the Han River - estuary - Son Tra Peninsula route, the Han River - Cham Island route, and the Han River - Hon Chao.

From now until 2030, Da Nang will focus on building international marina infrastructure associated with international-class services in the Da Nang bay area, gradually forming the initial infrastructure of the yachting industry and calling for investment in new small and medium-sized yacht building facilities.

The investment in international and domestic marina infrastructure in the city will contribute to promoting the development of yachting industry and services with a contribution of 2-3% to the city's GRDP reaching.

With a vision to 2050, heed will be on developing professional and modern yacht building industry, and converting the Tien Sa seaport into an international yacht seaport.

Emphasis will be on steadily developing the yacht industry, making yacht-related services a typical brand of Da Nang, and increasing the contribution to the city's GRDP to about 4-5%, of which services contributing 3-3.5%, and industry 1-1.5%.
