Farmers excited about production after Tet
In the first days of the lunar new year 2025, farmers across Da Nang were excited to go to fields to check and fertilize their crops. Everyone hurriedly started working in the fields with the hope of a year of favorable weather and bountiful crops.

At the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Service Cooperative, Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District, the production atmosphere was very busy and bustling in the early days of spring. While plowing the land to plant a new crop of vegetables on an area of 1,500m2, Ms. Le Thi Lan said she would sow short-term vegetable varieties for supply to the market in time. Like many other vegetable growers, during the recent Tet holiday, all of her vegetables were purchased at higher prices than in previous years.
“The weather at the beginning of the year was stable, so farmers went to the fields very early. Many batches of vegetables planted for sale after Tet are also growing well,” Ms. Lan said.
Not far away, with nearly 5,000m2 of peanut growing area, Ms. Le Thi My Hanh and many other households were fertilising, plowing, and loosening the soil to kill weeds to help the plants grow well.
Ms. Hanh said: “The more thoughtful and thorough the care, the higher the bean yield will be. We combine fertilizing, lime, and spraying stimulants through the leaves to help the plants grow, flower, and bear fruit in accordance with the crop season. Up to now, the entire area has developed evenly”.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, the Director of the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Service Cooperative, said that during the recent Tet holiday, the output of vegetables and tubers in the city was abundant and purchased at high prices.
For vegetables and tubers grown for a long time before Tet, people are also actively fertilizing them to achieve productivity and early harvest. In order to ensure the supply of vegetables in the city, the cooperative recommends that farmers in the area focus on growing suitable vegetables, tubers and fruits, especially short-term vegetables, to promptly meet people's needs.
The main vegetables grown in this season include lettuce, cabbage, squash, gourd, squash and green peppers.
Meanwhile, in the La Huong safe vegetable growing area in Cam Le District, farmers also take advantage of the sunny weather to plow and plant many types of agricultural products.
With nearly 1,000m2 of cultivated land, Mr. Ngo Van Dai said that during the Tet vegetable season, the unfavourable weather damaged much of the cauliflower area of his family and many other farmers, so they could not supply the market in time. Up to now, he is continuing to fertilize and harvest the remaining cauliflower plants as well as plowing the soil to sow short-term vegetable varieties and herbs such as mustard greens, lettuce, coriander, and spinach...
In a similar vein, Mr. Phan Van Loc is nimbly hoeing and tilling the soil to prepare for sowing new vegetable beds on an area of 1,500m2. In the last vegetable crop, his short-term vegetables and tubers were all harvested at high prices.
“I am focusing on growing short-term vegetables. At the same time, I am taking care of the lettuce area that has not been sold out during Tet to supply the market. At this time, the weather is favourable and the prices of agricultural products are stable, creating excitement for farmers to enthusiastically start producing the new crop,” Mr. Loc shared.

In addition to the green vegetable areas, the atmosphere of production in the rice fields in the city is also bustling and busy. Many farmers have proactively visited their fields to monitor the situation of pests and diseases in order to take timely preventive and treatment measures.
Taking advantage of favourable weather, Ms. Phan Thi Dau, Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District fertilized her 5,000m2 rice field early in the morning.
In addition to fertilizing, she also proactively brought water into the fields and sprayed pesticides to help the rice grow best.
“In recent crops, rice has been sold at good prices, so people are enthusiastic about the winter-spring rice crop. This crop is very important as the price of winter-spring rice is also higher than the other crops, in addition to favourable weather and stable rice yield.”, Ms. Dau said excitedly.
In the fields of Hoa Phong commune, Mr. Ngo Duy Tien and many other farmers also urgently went to the fields to check and take care of the rice. This rice crop, his family is growing Ha Phat 3 variety with a total area of about 3,500m2. “Combining the prevention of rats and pests before Tet, which was carefully done, along with fertilizing after Tet, my rice field has not been affected by pests and diseases.”, Mr. Tien said.
Vice Chairman of the Hoa Vang District People's Committee Phan Duy Anh informed that after Tet, the weather was quite favourable for planting and caring for agricultural crops, so the authorities has proactively guided and urged farmers to focus on production in the fields. For the 2024 - 2025 winter-spring rice crop, the development situation is still stable.
This crop, the main variety structure is medium and short-term varieties with high yield, good quality, and adapted to the ecological conditions of Da Nang. To ensure production plans, the People's Committees of communes and agricultural cooperatives in the district have guided farmers in taking care of crops and vegetables in all stages of development, helping the crop production to achieve good results.
