The construction of a data centre in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park officially began on Thursday with a groundbreaking ceremony held by the city’s International Data Centre JSC.

Attending the ceremony were Secretary of the municipal Party Committee cum Head of the city's National Assembly Deputies' Delegation Nguyen Van Quang; Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Ngo Xuan Thang; and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh.

Delivering his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Secretary Quang informed that Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, has identified digital transformation one of the driving forces for the development of Viet Nam in general and localities in particular, with the focus on digital infrastructure first.

Implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Da Nang is striving to build a smart city, and one of the centres of science and technology, innovation and especially national digital transformation centre, he added.

The city Party chief highlighted the significance of data centre in successfully implementing digital transformation. It can be said that the Da Nang Data Centre is a driving force and key project in the high-tech field with the largest rack scale in the city today. The construction of the data centre will contribute greatly to the digital infrastructure ecosystem, especially in the Da Nang High-Tech Park. The city leaders will continue to create the best conditions for the project to soon come into operation.

The Da Nang Data Centre is built at Lot H4 in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park with a total investment of VND 800 billion in Phase 1, and an estimated VND 1,200 billion in Phase 2.

This is one of the four projects granted investment certificates within the framework of The City Partnership Forum - Da Nang 2025 (Meet Da Nang 2025).

Covering an area of ​​2 hectares, the project has a total construction area of ​​10,400m², and a total floor area of ​​17,852m². The data centre will house up to 1,000 racks with a total capacity of 18.5 MW. It is designed according to international standards TIA-942C Rated-3 and Uptime Tier-3, ensuring stable, safe and high-performance operation.

On this occasion, the Da Nang International Data Centre JSC signed cooperation agreements with partners: the China Mobile International Company Limited (Viet Nam), the FPT International Telecommunication Company Limited, the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the Thanh Xuan branch of the Viet Nam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV), and the Smart Energy Management JSC.
