Connecting the OCOP (One commune - One Product) programme (the production and trading of traditional products with advantages in rural areas) with tourism development is a highly practical direction that contributes to promoting the destination of Da Nang, increasing experiences for tourists, and at the same time promoting consumption and increasing product value.

In early 2025, Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, the owner of Ba Lieu Me sesame crackers in Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District expressed his desire to bring the 4-star OCOP standard sesame crackers to the international market, and the production workshop will become a venue for local people and tourists to experience making sesame crackers.

Mr. Sol shared that Ba Lieu Me sesame crackers have a brand of more than 200 years, preserved by generations in the family, associated with the hard-working story of grandmothers and mothers from the past to the present. Currently, the product has a certain position in the market, sold in supermarkets, airports, speciality stores in Da Nang and across the country; chosen by tourists as gifts for relatives and friends during their trips.

“In addition to product quality, we invest in design, eye-catching packaging, promote communication work on the website, social networking platforms... The facility is frequently visited by groups of students to experience the cake making process. I hope that one day the facility will welcome many groups of tourists to experience and learn more about the traditional profession of Da Nang”, said Mr. Sol.

According to Mr. Ly Dinh Quan, the Chairman of the Da Nang Culinary Culture Association, in recent times, many agricultural products have been linked with tourism through homestays and model gardens. However, in order for the products to be widely known, it is necessary to organise tours to production establishments to inspire tourists to discover the value of traditional crafts in tandem with boosting product consumption.

Taking the example of Hoa Bac tea products, Mr. Ly Dinh Quan said that this is a product that creates the identity and unique cultural features of the Co Tu people in Da Nang. Therefore, there should be a tour to experience enjoying tea combined with the cuisine of the local people.

“Vietnamese tea is not only a drink but also contains cultural and historical depth. Through tea tasting sessions, visitors will understand more about the art of making tea, typical types of tea and spiritual values in Vietnamese culture. At the end of 2024, the association coordinated with relevant agencies to organise the first Vietnamese Tea Culture event with the aim of promoting Vietnamese tea culture, connecting resources and creating a good environment for the community of tea lovers in Da Nang. Through the event, the association has supported the promotion and communication of Hoa Bac tea products and Co Tu ethnic tea businesses.”, said Mr. Ly Dinh Quan.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, the representative of Quoc Bao speciality store (at the foot of Ba Na Hills, Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang recognised that tourism is an effective channel for promoting and introducing OCOP products. Meanwhile, OCOP products promote their unique values to attract tourists to the locality while also stimulating tourists to increase spending.

Developing OCOP tourism products is one of the city’s orientations in exploiting the potential and advantages of the OCOP programme associated with serving community tourism and ecotourism.

In 2024, the Da Nang OCOP Council evaluated, classified and proposed the recognisation of the Banarita Glamping Farm Eco-tourism Area (Hoa Vang District) as a 4-star OCOP tourism area. This is the first OCOP product of Da Nang in the group of ‘Ecotourism services combined with agricultural development’.

To achieve the goal of having at least 2 OCOP tourism products in 2025, relevant departments and units in the city will survey and evaluate the potential and prospects of tourist sites and production establishments according to the OCOP tourism product criteria set and support these establishments to participate in the OCOP programme.
