Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival to be held in April
On Wednesday, the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA) received a group of Japanese representatives from the Organising Board of the 2016 Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival, and some from the Japan Sakura (cherry blossom) Exchange Association.
At the meeting, the DOFA representatives and their Japanese guests discussed the organisation of the Festival, the first of its kind to be held in Da Nang, which will be held at the Asia Park from 9 - 10 April.
The Japanese Association has donated 100 cherry blossom trees to the city, and they will be planted at the Asia Park in preparation for the forthcoming event.
Another 50 cherry blossom stems will be given to Asia Park on 8 April. The flower stems will be used during the 2-day festival to help local residents and visitors gain an insight into the cultural symbol of Japan, also known as ‘The Land of the Rising Sun’.
The Association has previously donated a total of 400 cherry blossom trees to Da Nang, and they have been planted at the Ba Na Hills Resort.
The 2016 Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival will feature a wide range of activities including introducing the cherry blossoms, Japanese traditional costumes, and the Japanese art of flower arrangement Ikebana. Stalls will be offering traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and calligraphy, and there will be a Viet Nam-Japan cultural exchange musical performance, along with Japanese Yosakoi dancing and cosplay costume-wearing contests.
