'Bay Mau' nipa palm forest in Quang Nam Province

Published: July 08, 2016

Just 30 minutes' drive from Da Nang city centre, the ‘Bay Mau’ nipa palm forest is located at Cam Thanh Commune in Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An.

Covering 7 hectares, the palm plantations were important revolutionary bases where Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers were hidden during the past resistance wars against the US and French.

Visitors to the forest can take basket boat tours around the site, enjoy delicious local specialities, and take part in cultural activities with local residents.  In a nice touch, they will also be presented free lovely rings, bracelets and hats made from palm leaves during their tours.

In spring, the site seems to be dressed with a youthful green coat, whilst from early September the fruits of the nipa palm are available for visitors to drink.  These are the two most beautiful moments at the site.

The beautiful landscapes and hospitality of the local residents will promise visitors wonderful times and memorable experiences.
