The Department’s Deputy Director Truong Thi Hong Hanh said the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2017 will last for 2 months from 24 April to 24 June, instead of 2 days as in previous years.
The festival is expected to attract 8 teams from Switzerland, China, Australia, Austria, Japan, the UK and Italy, and Da Nang-Viet Nam.
The city will also host the 6th Asian Golf Tourism Convention from 7-13 May. This is the annual event held by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), and the biggest of its kind in Asia, which includes an awards ceremony honouring countries and regions with outstanding golf achievements.
To serve the expected influx of visitors, an under-construction international terminal at the Da Nang International Airport is scheduled to be put into operation in March 2017 with a yearly capacity of between 4 and 6 million passengers.
Da Nang currently has 575 accommodation establishments, together offering up to 22,000 rooms. The central tourism hub is piloting a mobile phone software application, called Danang FantastiCity, to help visitors plan tours and find tourist information in Vietnamese and English.
